ToggleWhen Will Kalyug End?
The Hindu Mythology is vast and provides a sea of information. The cosmic cycle is explained in the religious scriptures. As per Puranic sources, Kali Yuga will end in 428,899 CE. The calculation came from the belief that we are living in the early Kalyug days. Only 5125 years have passed in the Kalyug, and the age of Kalyug is 432,000 years.
According to Bhavishya Malika, Kalyug will end in 2025 after World War 3. Pandit Shri Kashinath Mishra also mentioned that by 2032, we may enter the Satyug. He explained that every major religion, practices, and belief system will combine into one Satya Sanatan Dharma.
Others believe that Year 2025 may not be the end of Kalyug, but it will surely start the transition period from Kalyug to Satyug.

What is Kalyug?
In Hinduism, Kalyug is the fourth and final stage of a cosmic cycle. It is the current age we are living in the cosmic cycle.
Yug | Kalyug |
Duration | 432,000 years (1,200 divine years) |
Start | February 17/18, 3102 BCE |
End | 428,899 CE |
Preceded by | Dwapar Yug |
Followed by | Satyug |
Kalyug is believed to be the worst of all 4 yugas. In Kalyug, we see moral decline, the twisting of Dharma according to need, being greedy is considered good, money is the only measure of success, and many other things.
However, many religious leaders pointed out, it is a great yug. They pointed out, You can find God and moksha by doing a little effort. A normal mantra chanting, doing good deeds will balance your karma.
In other yugas, people have to meditate for years to please Gods. And there were other worldly creatures roaming around who swallow the whole humans at one go. Apparently, we don’t live with such creatures anymore in Kalyug.
When Kalyug Started?
According to Puranic Sources, Kalyug began on February 17/18, 3102 BCE. It is the day Lord Krishna died. Lord Krishna’s demise is linked to the transition phase from Dwapar Yug to Kalyug. The decline in dharma and increase in adharma is a sign of Kalyug initial phase.
Another anecdote says demon Kali emerged from hiding after the death of Lord Krishna. He tried to enter Hastinapur but King Parikshit refused. Later, Kali convinced him to be in the city and allow him to roam in certain places. These places were bars, slaughter houses, and casinos.
However, Kali’s influence was unmissable. His influence makes the king do evil things. The entire kingdom was affected and it led to the rise of Kali.
Another story shows the catastrophic storm that destroyed Dwarika. It is believed that Earth was hit by a 7-day storm after Lord Krishna left the Earth. This incident is also mentioned in ancient Babylonian and Mayan records.

In which year Kalyug will end
While Puranas and other religious scriptures give us an insight into our mythical history, it also has some predictions about the future. The calculations in these puranas are debatable. However, it is believed that Kalyug’s lifespan in the cosmic cycle is about 432,000 years.
Part | Start (– End) | Length in years |
Kali-yuga-sandhya (dawn)* | 3102 BCE | 36,000 (100) |
Kali-yuga (proper) | 32,899 CE | 360,000 (1,000) |
Kali-yuga-sandhyamsa (dusk) | 392,899–428,899 CE | 36,000 (100) |
Years: 432,000 solar (1,200 divine) | ||
(*) Current. |
In this 1200 divine years, we get the main period of Kalyug and two twilight phases as well. The main period will have 360,000 years (1000 divine years). Two twilight phases last for 36,000 years (100 divine years).
As of 2025 CE, Kalyug is still in Kalyug Sandhya (dawn) phase. Only 5125 years have passed since Kalyug started. It still has to see its prime, and dusk in following years. There are roughly 426,875 years left. The end of Kalyug will happen in the year 428,899 CE.
As stated above, the calculations are debatable and many people theorise that Kalyug will end in the year 2025. Also, there’s a celebrated Indian movie titled ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ which shows Kalyug will end in about the next 900 years.
What Will Happen After Kalyug?
In the cosmic cycle, Kalyug is the last and worst yug. However, this cosmic cycle will repeat itself and we transition to a new yug (Satyug) after Kalyug ends. Lord Kalki, the tenth avatar of Vishnu, will lead us to Satyug and restore Dharma.
Satyug is famous for its purity. People have faith in God, follow Dharma, speak truth, and live a happy life helping others.

Why is Kalyug considered the worst yug?
You must think why Kalyug is considered the worst yug even though you can reach God by doing little efforts. The answer lies in what are the signs of Kalyug. It is true that pleasing God is easy in Kalyug, but our belief in supreme power is reduced to little as Kalyug peaks.
Some signs of Kalyug that you might have noticed includes:
Moral Decline: Honestly will only remain an old word in the dictionary as Kalyug peaks. Getting the work done by any means is considered good.
Conflict: People will lose their patience for everything. The only way to resolve conflict would be violence.
Materialism: Everyone will resonate with the ‘Greed is Good’ quote and money would be the only metric for a good life.
How many years left in kalyug
There are 426,875 years still left in Kalyug as of 2025 CE. However, the calculation of years from religious Hindu texts are debatable. This calculation comes from the fact that Kalyug has 432,000 years of existence and we have completed 5125 years.
After Kalyug which yuga will come
After Kalyug ends, we transition into the Satyug, the next yug in the cosmic calendar. In Satyug, people prefer spirituality over materialism. People reconnect with divine power and live together in harmony.
