Installation method: The Kalash is installed on a pedestal facing east or north. A pavilion is built around the Kalash and barley is sown in it. The Kalash is decorated with puja items like flowers, fruits, incense and lamps.
Chanting of mantras: Pandit or any knowledgeable person worships the Kalash while chanting mantras. Goddess Durga is invoked through mantras and she is requested to reside in the Kalash.
Importance of Puja: It is believed that the installation of Kalash brings positive energy into the house and drives away evil forces. The Kalash is worshiped regularly throughout Navratri and the Kalash is immersed on the last day of Navratri.
